A watched belly never kicks

July 27, 2009

Well she is kicking pretty good every day. It is a reassuring feeling when you have a little boxer in your belly because it is a good reminder that she is doing well in there. According to the 50 million baby websites, she should be a little over one pound and 12 inches from tip to toe. I can't really figure out where she is in my belly. It seems like I feel it all over, almost like she has two sets of feet and hands (good news though, the ultrasound revealed that there was only one set of each). She is really moving around tonight as I was sitting here checking my email but only when I turned my head away. it seems like when I watched my belly there wasn't any movement. Sort of like standing around waiting for Old Faithful to erupt and then realizing you are not at Yellowstone.

We painted the nursery last weekend when John's mom and uncle Hank came to visit. At first it was on tap to be lavendar and beige but John made the suggestion of yellow so literally split the difference down the middle. Now the bottom half of the wall is lavender and the top is a light yellow with chair rail to be hung in the middle (one of these days).

Its a ....

GIRL!! I couldn't believe it. I thought for sure it was a boy. In the fact the ultrasound technician said "It's definetely a girl". John's mom and I stopped at Target on the way home and we now have two brand new outfits for her. Her...not getting used to saying that right now.

She was a little uncooperative so we couldn't get all the pictures we needed. The ultrasound tech said I will probably have to come back and get 1 or 2 more. So we will have more pics.

Here is a pretty head shot.

Center of Gravity

One thing I was unprepared for was the change in my center of gravity. At about 13 weeks I squatted down to clean up some water that I had spilled and rolled backwards. Last night, I was getting out of a friend's pool and misjudged the step. I was almost a goner at that point. Not only do i have about a good 15 extra pounds resting on the front of my body, i also found out that i have no muscle mass in my legs. So whatever muscles I thought I had are now gone.

We have to start crib shopping again soon because the crib that we ordered has now been recalled. No one from Babys R Us really bothered to tell us. I figured out when I called them to find out where the thing was. It is a big pain because I thought I was being so meticulous in my research and even picked a brand that received an "A" . I told John that all of the other cribs were "death cribs" and that we should stay away because they were all recalled. So much for that.

Have a good weekend everyone. We are heading out to the park for a work picnic. I think i'll probably last about 1 hour in this heat.

Soccer Player

July 5th - the little 'guy" is moving around pretty good tonight. It feels kind of strange, like a bunch of little soft punches or kicks. This is proably about the 4th time I felt it kicking in the last 3 weeks.

Finally!

Hello everyone,

July 3, 2009 (week 19) Welcome to our blog. We finally got it up and running. Some would say "geez your almost halfway done with your pregnancy". But look at this way, we still have 20 weeks to go. We are very excited about the changes that are ahead.

I've been feeling great lately with the exception of heartburn and occassional moody-ness. Although I am a pharmacist i found myself having to look up the maximum dose of Tums the other day because I am eating them like candy. At least they are good for you.

My feet and hands have also started to swell a bit. I can't wear my wedding rings and some of my shoes become tight by the end of the day. The baby has been starting to move. I felt the first little punches on June 25th. This morning "he" was moving around which was kind of fun to feel. We go in for our next ultrasound on July 16th and we should know the gender by then. My mother's intuition is that it is a boy but we shall see.

More to follow. Thanks for checking in!
